Turn into Princeville at the water fountains (on the right if coming from the south). Follow road all the way to the end, to Princeville Resort and Hotel. You may either park in the hotel parking lot or use the valet parking. Description: If there is such thing as a million dollar view, even those of us a few bucks short will be able to enjoy this one. Absolutely breathtaking is the only way to describe the view from Café Hanalei at Princeville Resort, and while the food is quite good as well, everything seams pale in comparison to the sun glistening off of Hanalei Bay with magical Bali Hai in the background. The terrace seating is a wonderful place to sit, relax, and forget about everything else or one can enjoy this magnificent view from inside, as the café is completely surrounded by glass. While the view is gorgeous all day long, sunset is a real treat. Café Hanalei is certainly a fine dining experience, with artistically presented meals and deserts representing the mix of flavors and cultures found here on the island. However, since this is Kauai and relaxing is the most important thing, guests will feel comfortable in just about anything--no jacket required. Being housed inside a hotel, the restaurant is used to accommodating guests of all ages, making this a family-friendly spot. Café Hanalei is open everyday, with special menus and events for holidays, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Two of the restaurants’ most famed events are the Champagne Sunday Brunch, served from 10:00am-2:00pm and the Friday night seafood buffet, from 5:30pm-9:30pm. Reservations are suggested for both, and highly suggested for the Friday night buffet, as it most often books up fast. Some of the highlights of Café Hanalei’s menu include the fresh and local "catch of the day," served at both lunch and dinner. Also, the Hanalei-grown Taro Pancakes with Apple Bananas makes a lovely, if not indulgent, breakfast treat. For dinner, one can either order a la cart, or may opt for the fixed-price three course dinner, which includes an appetizer, main dish, desert, and Kona coffee. Similarly, one may either dine from the breakfast buffet (served everyday), or order off the breakfast menu. When planning your visit to the restaurant, you may want to allow extra time to enjoy the shops, located in the resort, across from the restaurant. At times, local photographers even exhibit their work in the lobby. If you want to be treated very well by a wonderful wait-staff and so entranced by the beauty of Kauai you forget all else, Café Hanalei is a wonderful place to dine…any day, all day long.
