The Bull Shed is off the right hand side of the main highway, coming from the south (Lihu'e). It is located on the edge of Waipouli and Kapa'a on the Waipouli side. There is a big sign out by the highway at the end of the drive to the restaurant, just past the Coconut Beach Hotel. Take a right here and head toward the ocean. The Bull Shed is at the end. Description: The Bull Shed is one of the few Kaua’i institutions still in operation. The Bull Shed has been open since 1973, when there wasn’t much here in the way of the restaurant and bar scene. The Bull Shed was "the" place to be and still has a large and loyal customer base. People flock here for the wonderful food and ocean ambiance. There is no other place quite like The Bull Shed on the island. The restaurant is literally ocean front, and seating along the ocean front wall allows for night-sky and ocean gazing through the restaurant’s many windows. The water is so nearby, one can hear the waves lapping onto the shore, providing lovely background music for dinner. This restaurant is truly a local favorite. Here you will find a mix of locals and tourists, young and old in this very festive environment. It is not unlikely to find a large family gathering to celebrate a teen’s graduation or birthday or another jubilant celebration of sorts going on. The restaurant is spacious, but has lots of little nooks for a more romantic occasion, so can accommodate large and small parties very well. The fare here is primarily "surf and turf." All of the fish is island-fresh and The Bull Shed is one of the few places to get lobster and king-crab on the island, both of which are excellent. As you would expect from the name, the trademark dish here is the juicy Prime Rib, complimented by baked potatoes and the bottomless salad bar, all I can say is come hungry! The food here is simple, a good value, and does not disappoint. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for weekend dining or large groups. Written By: Rana Jackson Map In This Category
