Coming from the South, veer left and stay on the main HWY. As you come into Hanamaulu, the restaurant will be your first on the right in a small strip of businesses (another restaurant and the post office). Coming from the North, veer right at the "split" (away from the airport) and the restaurant will be on your right. Description: The ambiance is what makes The Hanamaulu Tea House and Sushi Bar a particularly special gem on Kauai. While the food is also quite good, representing one of the better sushi restaurants on the island, the lovely Japanese garden and the open-air traditional style of seating will keep you thinking back to your last relaxing dinner here and planning the next. The enchanting garden, with a serene Koi pond and many native-Japanese plantings, is a beautiful example of the connection between food and nature—the food really seems to taste better among the water lilies. The Hanamaulu Tea House is frequented mostly by locals, especially at lunch, but visitors are starting to catch on to the secret. The Tea House serves lunch and dinner, although sushi and outdoor garden seating are only available for dinner. For lunch, the restaurant offers a limited menu, but the portions are generous, especially the Japanese and Chinese plate lunch specials, which are primarily meat dishes. For dinner, guests may chose from a full ala carte menu ranging from cooked meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes to soups and salads or opt for one of the complete multi-course "dinners for two." In addition, an extensive menu featuring an array of sushi pieces, hand rolls, and Sashimi (raw fish) is offered. On Sunday evenings, from 5:30-8:30, the Tea House puts on an oriental buffet (and the sushi bar is closed). Desserts here are unique and are sure to please the sweet tooth, with items such as Green Tea Ice Cream, Deep Fried Custard, and Guava Sherbet. All dinners are served with a complimentary pot of Japanese Green Tea. For sushi connoisseurs or visitors looking for something a little different, The Hanamaulu Tea House and Sushi Bar is an excellent choice. Written By: Rana Jackson Map In This Category
