Description:
When you’re visiting the Windward side of Oahu, and passing through the town of Kailua, one of the best places to stop and have a drink is Lanikai Juice. Unlike some juice bars that claim to be made from fresh fruit, but actually contain a lot of preservatives, Lanikai Juice is 100% natural. Inside the small little store is a huge display of fruit which the servers use to whip up all kinds of exotic smoothies. Lanikai Juice’s most unique item is the acai fruit, which is essentially a type of berry native to the Brazilian Amazon, and which is filled with all kinds of antioxidants making it one of the most nutritious fruit. Acai is available both as a smoothie and as a fruit bowl. Essentially, the smoothie is the same as the bowl except that the bowls are also topped with granola and bananas, making this a very filling, healthy meal in itself. Other favorites at Lanikai Juice are the smoothies such as the Waimanalo Blue, made from blueberries, bananas, dates, soy milk, granola and yoghurt, and the Kailua Monkey, which is made from peanut butter, bananas, soy milk, honey and a choice of either chocolate or vanilla protein powder. As well as smoothies, Lanikai Juice makes some wonderful fresh juices, including 1 and 2 ounce shots of wheatgrass juice and an interesting combination of juice mixtures such as the Maikai’i, which is made from fresh lemons and apples. If that isn’t enough, in front of the counter is a machine where you can make your own freshly squeezed orange juice!

The store has a small bar for seating as well as a handful of tables for outdoor seating. Occasionally, on Saturdays parking can be hard to find inside the shopping center. When that happens, just park in the large parking structure near Longs, and cross the street to Lanikai Juice. Whether you decide to sit at Lanikai and enjoy your juice, or drink it while you explore Kailua, or simply take it with you to the beach, Lanikai Juice is a must-do for any visitor to Kailua.
