Description:
Boots and Kimo is located in the heart of Kailua, on the windward side of Oahu. From the outside, the restaurant seems to be an ordinary hole in the wall joint. However, there is one key difference: usually you will see people waiting outside for a table. This small hole in the wall restaurant is very popular amongst locals and for good reason. They are famous for their macadamia nut pancakes, which are made with the creamiest, tastiest macadamia nut sauce that you will ever taste. This sauce is so well-renowned that the Betty Crocker Company actually wanted to bottle and sell it. However, Boots & Kimo, being a family owned restaurant, has continued to keep this recipe in the family, meaning that the only way that one can try this amazing sauce is to go down to Kailua and eat at Boots & Kimo.

Inside the restaurant, there are only a handful of tables, which means that there usually is a wait, especially on weekends. If you wish to avoid this, think about going during the week, in between the breakfast and lunch crowds. But don't be put off by a wait, because this restaurant is most certainly worth it. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Inside, you will find sports memorabilia all over the restaurant, particularly football paraphernalia. As I said, they are famous for their macadamia nut pancakes and I encourage any new visitor to Boots & Kimo to try that first, however they do many other types of breakfast items including amazing banana pancakes, Portuguese’s sausages, and a large selection of omelets and other breakfast items.

Boots & Kimo is the quintessential hole in the wall Hawaiian restaurant. With a friendly atmosphere and delicious food, it is easy to see why people keep coming back to it. If you are spending the day in Kailua, or just happen to be in the neighborhood, then Boots & Kimo is a must!

We just got back to the mainland and I am already craving the banana pancakes with Kimo's nut sauce! Those were the BEST pancakes I've ever had! And the Fried Rice Omlette was to die for!! My husband and I wiped both our plates clean. The drive out was long but well worth it! Boots and Kimo's is definitely on our list of places to go in Oahu!

Boots and Kimos is amazing. I am not usually much on pancakes but theirs are great AND they have a fantastic beans omelet... it's ridiculous. I couldn't stop eating!

I thought the pancakes were great. The sauce was creamy and the wait in line went fast. I also tried the fried rice and enjoyed that as well.

I heard so much about these pancakes that I had to go try them. The sauce, while tasty, was not as great as I was led to believe. It was rather runny, too. But the biggest disappointment was the pancake itself. It was thin, tough, and chewy. Perhaps one of the worst pancakes I've had. If it did not come with the tasty sauce, I doubt anyone would find the cakes delectable.
