From Waikiki, take H-1 to the Pali Hwy and follow it until it becomes Kailua Rd. Make a slight right onto Kuulei Road and then a left on Aulike Rd. Description: On a tropical island in the middle of the Pacific ocean it is often difficult to find restaurants that serve authentic food from the other side of the world. This is why Baci Bistro, located in Kailua, on the windward side of Oahu, is a real treat. Serving authentic Italian cuisine in a cosy atmosphere, this restaurant is not to be missed. Baci Bistro is where the residents of Kailua come to gather; and with plenty of seating, in an "Old World" Italian atmosphere, it is easy to see why. On the subject of seating, consider the covered solarium for seating, with lots of greenery, a unique mural on wall tile and a privacy net, so you don't have people staring at you while you eat, it's a great choice for a romantic dinner. Of course, a good restauarnt has to serve up more than just ambience, and again, Baci Bistro does not disappoint. The restauarnt prides itself on fresh ingredients and it shows in the food. Parma ham is served up with plenty of melon and olives in their Prosciutto e Melone appetizer. Another excellent choice is their Pane all" Aglio which is toasted bread, served with perfectly roasted garlic. For main course, I reccomend the ravioli which is one of Baci Bistro's specialities. It is made fresh every day, with a different filling every night. Their Rigatoni alla Panna Rosa with it's fresh, creamy tomato sauce is also an excellent choice. And what Italian meal is complete without Tiramisu? Another of Baci Bistro's specialties, theirs is creamy with just enough liqueur and it'll make you salivate for more. In addition to delicious food, the restaurant also has an excellent wine list, featuring a surprisingly wide range of Italian wines along with some Californian and Australian wines as well. With a restaurant like this, it is wise to make reservations, particularly on the weekends, where there may be a wait involved, but this Italian gem is definitely worth it. One might also assume that a restaurant like this would be pricey, however dishes are very reasonably priced, making this an easy choice for a night out in Kailua.
