From the H1 freeway eastbound, take the Kinau St exit, turn right on Ward Avenue. Turn left on Auahi, cross Kamakee St and the entrance to the shopping center will be on the right. Description: A long time Honolulu favorite, this restaurant has been in the same location for over 20 years. In that time, Ryan’s has received several local and national awards and continues to keep things fresh, friendly and flavorful year after year. The restaurant is done in a casual contemporary style. Nothing sleek, pretentious, pushy and hard edged here, but lots of soft touches and comfortable seating arrangements make this sizable restaurant seem pleasant and personal. Dine inside or outdoors on the large lanai which is especially nice in the evenings when the outdoor temperatures are cooler. Ryan’s attracts a wide range of islanders from weekday power lunchers, Sunday brunchers, after-movie munchers and the dating crowd. But it’s the after-work or pau hana crowd is what keeps weekday afternoons crowded, lively and bustling. The restaurant bar is well stocked and the drinks are generous and reasonably priced. The appetizer or pupu menu is very extensive with choices that range from sashimi to buffalo hot wings, ahi poke to fancy nachos. On weekends the bar has a reputation for being an enjoyable singles spot where friendly faces and conversations are easy to come by as well as a place to gather to spend time with your friends. The menu has an international flair and is as varied as the island’s population is diverse. Selections include a tasty French Onion Soup, a huge Maytag Blue Cheese with Tiger Shrimp salad, Guava-Tamarind Glazed Pork Ribs and numerous pastas, burgers and sandwiches. But every first time visitor should not miss a chance at Ryan’s signature crab and artichoke dip. Creamy and tasty it’s been the restaurant’s signature for years. A kids menu is also available. Parking can be a hard to come by at this Ward Centre location, so allow extra time or opt for valet parking. Dress is anything from casual to dressy. Reservations are definitely recommended for weekend and holiday seating and advance arrangements are required for large parties of 15 or more. Ryan’s is a uniquely enjoyable place full of aloha spirit. Written By: Lottie Tagupa Map In This Category
