Description:
Unlike the flashier of the contemporary island chefs, island born Glen Chu, is more conservative in his approach and has built a strong reputation in being a fantastic restaurateur and entrepreneur. Unlike most of today’s Hawaii chefs, his culinary skills were formed on the mainland.

He was one of the very first to invest in the area’s revitalization plans by opening his trendy Euro-Asian bistro on a downtrodden Chinatown street far before most saw the purpose or the profit potential. He has been a cornerstone in turning Chinatown from an urban wreck to a place where Hawaii can enjoy and boast about.

Today, Indigo has been a destination for professionals from the nearby financial area, and favorite gathering spot for the after work crowd. On nights when the nearby Hawaii Theatre hosts events, a pre or post show performance reservations is the hottest ticket in town.

Indigo has a fantastic menu that has proven over the years to be enjoyable and popular. For lunch the buffet is very popular and reasonably priced. Selections include daily specials that always include a tasting of dim sum. For dinner, selections include Grilled Shrimp with Thai Macadamia Nut Pesto with green papaya slaw, Lilikoi Glazed Sweet and Sour Baby Back Ribs with Asian slaw, Mogul Lamb Shanks Vindaloo a spiced curry splashed with tamarind juice and with apple chutney.

More recently the addition of the The Green Room and the Opium Den & Champagne Bar has brought even more life to this Chinatown street. Open from Tuesday through Saturdays, this gathering spot features live music and attracts the island’s coolest and trendiest. A smaller late night menu is also available into the early morning.
