Description:
No visit to the Arizona Memorial would be quite complete without at least a short tour of the USS Missouri. It’s so very appropriate for this icon of the ending of World War II be permanently moored a mere 300 yards away from the USS Arizona and in the very harbor where the events of December 7, 1941 launched the United States of America into the bloodiest war ever known to man.

Located on Ford Island, the battleship has a remarkable history that spans over fifty years, several wars, many visits to Hawaii as well as two decommissions. She arrived back in Hawaii in 1999 for the last time to be enjoyed by all.

Visits to the battleship begin at the ticket center located at the USS Bowfin Submarine adjacent to the USS Arizona’s Visitor Center. The battleship has several different types of tours available from the basic self tour to the deluxe tour that gives you access to the brig, mess hall, machine shop and more. Once ticket is in hand, proceed to the trolley stop in the nearby parking lot for a short ride over the bridge to Ford Island. Trolleys run every fifteen minutes all day long and the ride in open air trolleys are fun and breezy and include enjoyable views of the harbor adjoining Naval base, the Arizona Memorial and Hickam Air Force Base in the distance.

Once aboard the battleship be sure not to miss a visit to the spot where the surrender was signed and the wonderful gift shop. Although it can be rather warm in the noonday sun, visiting the decks and corridors of this ship is enjoyable, so large this ship is that it seems to take the hoards of tourists with ease and grace.

Ticket booth closes at 4pm daily. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
