Description:
Located adjacent to the wildly popular USS Arizona Memorial and a launching point for a visit to the USS Missouri, the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park is an enjoyable part of the area attractions. Parking is free readily available near the USS Arizona Visitor’s Center, or across the street near the highway. Less crowded than the USS Arizona, it offers several exhibits, a museum and a gift shop to enjoy and explore. Most visitors come to the area looking to pass time while waiting for their tickets to be called for the USS Arizona presentation. Nevertheless, park is very enjoyable and it is worth the price of the admission.

There are several notable exhibits located just inside the gates. The most solemn is the memorial exhibit which lays tribute to 52 U.S. submarines and more than 3,500 submariners who gave their lives in World War II. There are 52 monuments one for each submarine. There is also a missile exhibit located in the park. This mail missile called Regulus was loaded with letters and launched for delivery to a Florida airbase and noted as the very first mail missile in history. Also on site is a Kaiten or Japanese Suicide Torpedo. Carried aboard Japanese submarines and warships, the torpedo is known to have sunk several American warships. The park also houses the only Poseidon missile on public display and several USS Bowfin artifacts. But the star is the submarine. Located in the water of Pearl Harbor it welcomes visitors days in and days out. Born as a result off the attacks on Pearl Harbor and has the honor of sinking a long list of Japanese ships during World War II.
