Description:
Located in the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center at Pearl Harbor. The museum is much smaller than one would expect, but it offers a collection of photos, personal effects, displays and exhibits of the men aboard the Arizona, the attack of the Harbor and more. You can find the museum in the far back corner of the visitor’s center past the snack stand and adjacent to the gift shop. During peak hours the visitor center, the tiny museum is often filled shoulder to shoulder with tour groups, school kids and families wandering the center while waiting to be called to view the presentation and the board the shuttle to the memorial. The exhibits are very interesting and valuable, but the crowds, fussing kids, chattering tour leaders and the tropical island heat in the un-air-conditioned center can take away from the enjoyment and the time spent at this overused museum.

Please be aware that there are certain rules to abide by when visiting the museum. Attire is monitored and offensive t-shirts or bathing suits are not allowed, neither are military BDU’s. Another is that although cameras are allowed in the visitor’s center and museum, most other items that offer concealment such as purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage are not. Storage areas for these items are located adjacent to the parking lot and their use it highly recommended.

The good news is that the ample parking and the admission to the museum is free and visiting the museum gives one a larger perspective on the attack and personalizes the people who were immediately affected by it. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
