Description:
The newest addition in a series to area attractions, this historical museum offers the visitor an opportunity to learn and experience more about the Pearl Harbor attacks, World War II, and view vintage aircraft and displays of war scenes.

Located on Ford Island the museum is accessible only by trolley from a staging area near the entrance of the USS Bowfin. One must have a ticket in hand in order to board the trolley and be transported the short distance across the bridge to the museum. Although the trolley departs for the museum once every 15 minutes, the lines especially at mid-day can be long especially in the hot tropical sun.

Once on board the trolley, the breezy ride offers wonderful views of the Arizona Memorial, the Aloha Stadium, home of the NFL Pro Bowl and Pearl Harbor in the distance.

Once at the museum, visitors are welcomed into a theatre to view a film about the attack on Pearl Harbor. The film offers scenes of the initial attack on that sleepy Sunday morning and has many images of bravery and confusion that took place throughout the day.

Once the film ends, visitors are ushered to the exhibit area where they can view the collection of vintage aircraft which includes a F4F-3 Grumman Wildcat, a Japanese Zero, a B-25 Mitchell bomber and along with an Aeronca 65TC which was the first aircraft to encounter the attacking planes.

Currently the museum consists of displays in Hangar 37 and will soon expand to include two more hangars with displays from the Korean and Vietnam wars, a full scale replica of a World War II aircraft carrier deck, a shopping area and simulator rides.
