From the H1 take the Ewa offramp, continue down Ft Weaver Road. Turn right at Papipi Road and follow the road till it ends at the park. Description: Uncrowded and spacious, this wonderful neighborhood beach is full of future possibilities and is currently in the midst of change. Located far off the beaten path, down through old cane fields, old neighborhoods and new developments, it is more of a neighborhood beach than a destination beach, but it offers great potential for relaxation and fun. Located past the shopping centers along a road where the old single story fan cooled homes meet expanses of upscale central air-conditioned homes and modern development, the beach sits posed for an inevitable makeover. The park is has been worn back to almost a completely natural state, roadways are full of pot-holes and speed bumps are ragged and overgrown but once at the shore the ocean is a clear azure and the sand is wonderfully white. Walk the beach a bit and you will find an old a bunker or two from the days when Pearl Harbor was the center of the world’s attention and splendid views of Diamond Head. There are many who frequent this beach, shoreline fisherman and surfers are almost always present and dog walkers and the occasional park visitor can be seen enjoying the large level ball field. Parking is ample and the bathrooms have seen better days, but there are no other enhancements at this otherwise unimproved park. That is all expected to change as the nearby housing development expands toward the shore. Planned for the area is a marina, shops, restaurants and even a hotel. It definitely has possibilities to be a wonderful showplace for the area, but for now, it’s just a place where you can sit on the sand, enjoy the sun and surf and dream of what the future may bring.
