Take H-1 E until it turns into Kalanianaole Highway. Follow Kalanianole Highway and make a right onto Puuikena Drive. Park at the beach park there and then cross over the wall to get to Niu Beach. Description: Niu beach is a small, quiet beach located near Aina Haina. Situated in a residential area, with no public access, it is a perfect, quiet beach for locals to visit. Of course, as stated, there’s no access to it, unless you happen to own one of the homes fronting Niu Beach, so just how does one get to enjoy it? There are no such things as private beaches in Hawaii, so simply park at Kawaikui Beach Park and don some reef shoes. Towards the left hand side of this beach park, you will see a small wall. Water laps right up to that wall, but don’t worry, as you will see, the water here is protected by a reef and is therefore calm and shallow. Beyond the wall is Niu beach, which you will recognize from all the homes fronting the beach. Then just cross over the wall and wade out towards Niu beach. The beach is a beautiful small strip of sand. Admittedly there are no facilities here, as it is designed to be used by homeowners, however, when you see the beautiful calm water and almost empty beach, the extra effort is definitely worth it. And if you need facilities, there is always Kawaikui Beach Park. The water at Niu beach being as calm as it is makes it perfect for swimming, and you’ll also notice that the water is fairly shallow meaning you can wade out into the ocean for a little ways, before it gets too high. Fishermen like to do this, and Niu Beach is a lovely spot for fishing. And, when you tire of just hanging out on the beach, there is also nearby Paik peninsula which is worth visiting. Niu Beach is a small, quiet beach away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With beautiful calm water and hardly a person to be seen, this beach is not to be missed.
