Review

Located in the corner of one of downtown Honolulu’s quieter intersections, this restaurant has been on the scene for over five years and continues to offer a flavorful alternative to the throngs of Asian restaurants in the area.

The restaurant has a simple façade and is just steps from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown and the waterfront. The quiet entrance is on the ground floor simple in a building that has a history of being a bank, fruit stand and clothing store in previous lives.

Once inside you’ll find a simply but authentically decorated interior done in spice colored hues, simple dining tables covered with white linens and a kitchen and service area toward the rear. Seating here is plentiful and comfortable and is not crowded or cramped. The best tables are located against the large windows that peer out onto the street where views of passing pedestrians can be enjoyable and sometimes entertaining.

There are not many Indian restaurants on the island, and of the few there are, many do not survive very long, but this restaurant has been steadfastly a dependable destination for some of the island’s best Indian food and has a host of loyal customers including a former Mayor.

The menu features a very popular lunch buffet. Quick and flavorful selections are prepared for busy downtown professionals who arrive on foot for a quick and satisfying lunch. The lunch menu offers reasonable prices and many selections to choose from. Menu items include Zaffron's famous Tandoori Chicken that is accompanied by Chole, Mixed Vegetable Curry, wonderfully-flavored Basmati Rice & Naan and the Mixed Curry Plate that includes Chicken Curry, Keema Beef Curry, Tandoori Chicken, Chole,Mixed Vegetables Curry, Basmati Rice & Naan.
