Review

Voted most popular by islanders many times over, this is the spot to gather with friends for a tasty dim sum lunch. It’s a different but enjoyable experience where you can eat as much or as little as you like.

The dining tables are covered in crisp white table linens sit on clean tiled floors in this Chinese Cultural Plaza restaurant. The single room banquet style setting is larger than most Chinese restaurants in the area which when filled to the brim gives the restaurant a lively and bustling atmosphere. Cantonese-style decorations accent a predominately white dining room and simple banquet chairs serve as the restaurants only seating.

At lunchtime, islanders, local Chinese, families and area businessmen and the occasional tourist will flock to the doors for a chance to pick and choose from a myriad of little delicacies in bamboo steamers. Waitress clad in dark pants and white blouses push carts stacked with bamboo steamers and warmers that are filled with a myriad of different taste delights. Some are sweet and others are savory but all are truly yummy. The most popular are the deep fried taro puffs, the pasty pork puffs and the egg custard tarts. Once you select a morsel from the cart, the waitress will tally your check and when you’re done you can pay at the cashier counter as you leave. A pot of hot jasmine tea is included and refills are easy to come by along with cool clean and refreshing island water.

The restaurant is also open for dinner, but a visit to this restaurant is by far best for lunch. Parking is available in the Chinese Cultural Plaza parking lot or metered street parking or in nearby municipal lots. Dress is casual.
